Another Terrifying GeoLink Flight
MadSANMan: The logging is working as you intend - it will write to the memory WHEN something bad is determined by unit. From this moment you can do anything but still you can check the log even few flights later because this is saved in the momory.
If there is no log from previous flight then it mean that nothing bad was logged.
You could even try it at the bench - just disconnect GeoLink from unit (when Spirit Settings is not running). Once battery is disconnected you will see then log full of errors.
If nothing bad is logged yet something happened than it mean that:
a) Spirit unit was not operating properly anymore for whatever reason - so it mean that it was not even controlling the model. So whatever you will set or do will have zero effect.
b) There was nothing that Spirit can detect from its side.
Technically if you will turn of any feature you have to always immediately regain full control. There are no more requirements. If this will not happen then I am afraid that condition A happened. So unfortunately GeoLink and Spirit unit were both not working. But it is very hard to find reason. I can only say that if they were working normally then the outcome would be in the worst case that you can regain full control. But rather everything would work well.
So it is not correct to say GeoLink was not working properly if even Spirit unit was not operating at all from a certain moment.
If just GeoLink will fail during flight then it is logged of course. But if even Spirit unit will not work then this is the worst condition.
However your ESC/BEC is looking good, HW are equipped with good BECs that can work reliably with the most servos.
So I can only think about static discharge which could bring the unit to the same condition. Unfortunately GeoLink has cable mounted at the boom usually so if there are discharges it is going all to both units and rest of the electronics. For this reason good grounding is really required on belted helicopters.
If model started to descend the belt could hit boom more easily. So it is very sad if you would say GeoLink is unreliable if there are factors we can't affect in any way. This is similar as being hit by a lightning. All nearby electronics will usually fail. But this is not fault of the electronics.
