Unable to bind SRXL2 Sat SPM9747 with Spirit GT and 4651T

In case you do not know something or you are not sure, here is the right place for your question.

Please make sure to disable ESC telemetry and GeoLink support.
Then it should work.

Are you using Spirit SRXL2 satellite adapters?

Just double-checked, Geolink is already disabled (I don't use one).
I did have Hobbywing V4 telemetry enabled since I use that, so I just disabled ESC telemetry, pressed CTRL-S and re-initialised the system.

The 4651T or 9747 still do not work in either SAT1 or SAT2.

I have made my own versions of both of the SRXL2 cables in the screenshot attached. I modified one of the included Jeti integration cables to make a Spektrum SRXL2 Adapter cable (for the 4651T), and similarly made my own Spektrum SRXL2 satellite adapter for the 9747.

I just tested each cable with my multimeter and resistance is below 1 ohm for every pin-to-pin connection on the cables.

That is very interesting.
I cant see any technical reason why it wont work.
The same thing was tested many things and just work.
Is the orange wire going in the right slot in the 4 pin JST connector?

It is enough to just move the sat at any free port of these 3 (after initialization was made at the AIL pin).
So just one satellite is needed to verify if the sat is working.

Have you other Spirit unit to try?

I am quite confused by it. :D

I've put the orange signal wire in to the end pin of the JST, as shown here.

Funnily enough, a friend of mine dropped off a heli for me to setup and along with it, a Spirit GT. As soon as I have time, I'll test with his Spirit GT and come back to you.

Thanks Tomas, speak soon.

I connected a Spirit II to a pair of SPM4651T's today to test. Both were bound to the transmitter. The Spirit II would only response to the receiver connected to the rudder/air connections. I was not able to get the Spirit II to recognize any input from the receiver when connected to Sat 1 or Sat 2. No telemetry or Geolink was enabled.

This isn't a setup I am planning to run, but since I have all the gear on the bench I thought I'd give it a try. So are we both missing something obvious?

I tried Spirit firmware 3.3.3, 3.3.2 and 3.3.1, The SPM4651T's are running firmware 2.44

Hello,
I have an additional proposal to test - Can you try the normal dsmx2 satellites in sat1 and in sat2 and test it in the same way like the SRXL2 satellites ? Bind the satellites to the transmitter, put in the sats in sat1 and sat 2 - can the sat2 overtake the control if you deconnect the sat1-satellite ? The other test can be only sat1 deconnect it and then put it back in sat1-port will it work again without any problems ?

Have you the possibility to test this too ?

Best Regards
Matthias

Hello,
I have tested this obove situation (my proposal) with the DSMX2 satellites -
I took a Spirit GT (3.33) and selected the DSM2/X receiver in the spirit settings saved it, closed spirit settings, powerd of the Spirit GT. I sticked to satellites in sat1 and sat2 port - After that I putted an Bind Plug in Ele/Pit/Ail powerd the GT on and the DSMX2-Satellites were flickering... then I bound it to my old DX8G2 (satellites are lighting up continuously), then I powerd off the GT and took out the Bind-Plug and then powerd the GT back on. Then I putted the usb interface in System and started Spirit Settings -
All channels are working perfect ! First what I did was to put out the satellite 1, no problem all works flawlessly - then I putted the sat1 back and it lights up solid again - Then I took off the satellite2 and the same like before it works flawlessly - I putted the satellite2 back again and it lights up solid again - all works perfect !
At last step I took out both satellites and then back again - all channels were working again flawlessly and both satellites lit up solid again -
As you can see here it works absolut perfectly !
Finaly I looked in the flight log and here you can see only one signal loss, when I putted both satellites off -

So I can say here that with the dsmx-satellites it works perfect and secure in my opinion -

So it should be also possible with the two SRXL2-Satellites, maybe some things must be changed in firmware in my opinion -

Best Regards
Matthias

TheSteve - thank you so much for testing and validating the issues I'm having.

Update from me:

-Tested with a second Spirit GT
-flashed to 3.3.3 and factory reset
-loaded with the same model file (550X) as my own Spirit GT

I get the same issue - the unit will only respond to input from an SRXL2 receiver connected to the AIL port, never one in either of the SAT ports.

Tomas - please let me know if you need anything else from me to assist your investigations and I'll do my best to provide it.
