A bit off topic, but this is the friendliest heli forum I know.
I help run the chat for our RC helicopter club, about 90 members plus a few people from nearby fields. Most of the newer pilots came in through three or four experienced members who invite them, help them set up their first flybarless unit and stand next to them during the first hovers.
We wanted to give those helpers a special role in the chat, but the invite stats were useless, because lots of people joined after a show day and never came back.
We now use a bot that only counts invites from pilots who stick around, and the ranking finally matches the people who spend their weekends helping beginners.
How do other clubs here keep new pilots motivated after their first crash?
