Hi, does a 450 heli really need that large a bec? Very surprised. Could you recommend any good suitable becs?
Thanks,
Eric.

It is very dependent on your servos.
Some servos are very demanding so there are very huge current peaks.
But some are very efficient so you can use 3A BEC even on 500-class heli for hard 3D.
And also, there are big differences between BECs even they are rated for the same amperage.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that way myself, but finding it difficult to find real world figures and testing on servos and BEC's.

I have found that ;
The CC BEC PRO is a reasonably reliable BEC rated at 20A peak and has 2 output cables to facilitate high currents. It's not an expensive unit however a bit large for smaller Helis.
The Gryphon Polaris is a good choice 10A peak BEC , small enough for a 250/450 yet capable of providing sufficient current for use in up to a 500.
The CC 10A is ok for lower voltage 3S system however not much better than internal BEC's when run at higher voltage like a 6S system.
Obviously there are many more options available , these are just the ones I've had experience with !

Thanks for the heads up on the Gryphon Polaris BEC. I had never heard of that one, might give it a try!
