Governor Autorotation recover setting
This is not correct. Unfortunately some ESCs are still managing spoolup/bailout while internal governor is off.
But you can try to configure autorotation switch/flight mode to use faster way described earlier. While motor is not off completely it should not use internal spoolup procedure at all.

I don't believe that the spirit gov has a auto rotation bailout in the sense we are all thinking. I haven't been able to see any difference in behavior between initial startup and autorotation restart. I've tried it from 3 feet off the ground during auto landing and also on the ground just like the video. I with my hobbywing platinum v3 100a esc in heli gov off mode there may be a slight difference in speed ups but not enough that it would save you from a bad autorotation. I've tried both electric gov normal and fast spoolup. Fast was better but not nearly enough to save from a crash.
Now, with the esc in airplane mode and the Spirit in electric normal gov it's a lot faster and could save if you knockoff the auto soon enough but the heli spins out 45* on initial startup. In airplane mode (esc) and electric fast start is the ideal speed for an autorotation bailout, however the heli violently spins out and almost tips over on initial startups.
I could be doing something wrong but I can't figure out any other way to configure the heli than these four options. I would love to see a throttle range that I could set my throttle hold switch to like the castle esc has that would allow me to control wether I want a slow start or a fast restart. Because the spirit gov is working absolutely perfect for me.
Please let me know if there is something I'm doing wrong or something I've missed because I really like everything else about the governor.

If I choose "Heli Governor Off", the ESC is in charge of spoolup, this is by design!
If not, it would violently spool up like smgunn explains above.
That is called "Airplane/Fixed wing" on my Hobbywing 50A V3 ESC.
I don't agree. Gov and spoolup are two completely different things. My understanding is that the Spirit can handle both. I don't run the HW ESC, but my understanding is that the ESC should be in "dumb" mode when using the Spirit. On the Castle Creations this can be accomplished using the "multi-rotor" vehicle. When I was using the iKON this is what I did and it worked great.
I think, but I'm not 100% sure yet because I have not had a chance to do more testing, is that we need to get our ESC in "dumb" mode so the Spirit can do it's job. If I'm right, this could also be the problem with autorotation bailout not working for some of us.

It is very hard to make everything work perfectly on each ESC as each manufacturer has own procedures for spoolup, handling bailout. Normal state is that ESC does not handle anything when governor is off. Todays ESCs are doing litle bit more job.
But if we will check it is possible to fix it we will do so.

Now we know how to program for autorotation bailout.

I assume that 1250us is the minimum value. I'm guessing that there is also a slightly higher value where the motor is turned off for the autorotation.
So we should configure throttle between 1250us and XXXXus for autos. What is XXXX?
You have to have a different method beside throttle hold to set 0 throttle. Since TH is very low, but still non-zero the ESC will not arm. You can use a normal mode with 0 throttle on low stick. If you don't like that option then most/all radios also have a separate throttle cut feature that's independent from throttle hold.
