Thomas

flew the titan at the club again today and had it tached with a digital metre and a manual one. the head tachs at Normal 2700 IU1 2900 IU2 3200.

I have my Max head speed in the governor as 2700. I wanted 2400 2600 2800 so i put my throttle curves at 75 81 87. With the motor disengaged i tested it and that's what i got from requested and actual motor speed indicated in the software.

Today I set the max head speed to 3200 (which is the actual max of the heli)
Set throttle curves to N-75 IU1-81 and IU2-87
The heli is at full head speed in normal and both the other curves (flat)

Seems as if its not governing in flight

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Ritchie

Guess I should just take it off and go back to internal yep governor as I'm at the end of my skills with this.

Hi,

sorry, I was not able to respond sooner. We are responding to mails from the morning each day.

"I have my Max head speed in the governor as 2700. I wanted 2400 2600 2800 so i put my throttle curves at 75 81 87."
This should not work.

If you want 2800 RPM head speed and there is 2700 RPM max., then with 100% TC requested RPM will be 2700 RPM.
You have to set always higher RPM as max. For example mentioned 3200.

Then 2800 RPM requested RPM can be achieved with 87,5% throttle curve. You have to check throttle range in the diagnostic tab.
It should not be more than 100%. It should be 0 - 100% actually.

So if 2800 RPM was possible with 2700 max. head speed, then the throttle exceeded 100% in the diagnostic tab.

If Current RPM is not matching with real RPM on the head measured by other tachs, then Gear Settings are wrong.

I got my post wrong Thomas sorry, my head speed max was at 3200. I done it again this evening following a mr mel video for the yge, there is a hidden menu to enable ext governor. Hopefully it will be OK now, going to try another flight tomorrow.

I wasn't knocking your speed of reply, just getting a little frustrated with myself because it should be straight forward.

Gave up and went back to yep internal governor, no matter what i done the heli ran at full speed, fine on the bench but not in flight. will try again one day maybe with a different esc

Ah, thats sad.

It looks like there is some problem with RPM sensor. Do you see Current RPM all the time when motor is running?

Yes Thomas on the bench with the motor disengaged the actual motor speed matches the requested speed all the way through the throttle curve. i calculated the speed i wanted which calculated at 87% but anything above 40% gives full head speed of 3200 which is the max i put in the software. The gear ratio is 11.5 (13/150)

I believe that Throttle Range in your ESC does not match with the unit at all.
So approx 40% in your transmitter is 100% for the unit.

Throttle recalibration process should fix the issue. Alternatively, you can use Min. and Max. parameters to match the programmed range.
