Gov 1.3.1 Goblin 700 Gasser
Governor works fantastic, once I changed max range from 100 to 110, (I had to lower min from -100 to -110 as well to meet lowest point) but as I said, this full movement could only bee seen, once gov in action. Increase servo travel on TX from 100 to 120 gave full movement on disabled Gov too. But as requested rpm calculates like (max rpm * throttle curve) I like to have 100% as max output on TX. Otherwise I would end up with higher rpm than max max, once throttle curve is above 84% ( 120% * 84% = 100% ) or if limited at max rpm, any curve above 84% won't have effect. Therefor I decided to adjust on max range, but could only see extra movement once Gov running, without engine. Beside, my setup is based on Electric, but I did put a V-Cable with extra Servo to see what's going to the ESC while adjusting, which equals to Servo on combustion.

I've put on about 10 flights since getting the gov working. I'm not fully satisfied with the holding power at my favored 1650 rpms, but that rpm level is also about 50-100 rpms lower than the power band of the engine and one collective mistake will rob the engine of hundreds of rpm.
At 1850 rpms the gov performance is adequate, more overspeeding than I'd like during transitions. For example if I'm inverted in a fast forward and push the elevator down the heli noses up and becomes right side up. When it's right side up the rpms are really overspeeding.
I'll admit to not fully understand the tuning methodology (power setting first until overspeeding in pitch pump and then back off - then holding power until the rpms hold in funnel, but doesn't overspeed), however it feels totally different when trying to interpret this on a machine and when in a gasser there are various power bands to work with (electrics seem to have a wider torque band than a gasser does).
There are also times when I switch from 1650 rpms to 1850 and there is no change until I load the head and unload it, then the rpms zoom up to my 1850 or 1900. That's a bit weird.
I will leave the gov on for now and keep flying it this way.

Thank you for the info.
When you can observe overspeeding during stationary pitch pumps, then Governor Response is too high.
When you are loosing RPM during long and demanding manouvers (loops, tic tocs), then your Holding Performance is too low.
If your RPM is not changing immediately, then it looks like Max parameter is too high, that your Servo is over limit.
So after some time, it will reach mechanical limit and then it will change the RPM. Decreasing Throttle Range - Max. to the highest/full (but no more) throttle position should solve the problem.

I was at the field when your post notification came through to my email.
Max range too high - can't be that far off - I lowered the range by 3 points - that solved that problem
I was not experiencing overspeed in pitch pumps
I was experiencing loss of power on continuous hard pulls
so
I increased the Governor power by one point, I increased the Holding performance from 5 to 6. With these settings it seems pretty good now at both power rpms.
Still one thing left to figure out, when I switch from normal to IU1 the rpms increase to IU2. If I switch into IU2 and then to IU1 the rpms lower to IU1 and I continue flying. Is this still a Max setting issue in the gov tab?

Thinking about it now when I switch from normal to Id 1 I get the Id2 head speed of 1970 even though it's not fully stable and increases over this.
Not tried switching to Id 2 though due to the excessive speed involved.
Hi, i haven't tested or confirmed this in practice yet, so it is still a suspicion on my part :
If you switch from normal to IU1, you might already be past the requested RPM for IU1, but below IU2, so it engages at this point ?
Tomas confirmed to my question that the unit doesn't throttle back at initial engage and if you "miss" the engagement point, it races to the heavens ....... or IU2, if it is high enough to catch it.

Can I ask you what receiver are you using?
