Good Day,

This may be a more basic DX9 question so I apologize in advance.

I have a DX9 with the Sprit and one DSM2 satellite. The Gear channel is on a three way switch and moves the "gyro" bar in the diagnostic page. Stabi tab is disabled.

My gear channel limits will change my tail gain, correct? And, I can only change my cyclic gain using the spirit software ( not in the transmitter)?

Is it possible to change the cyclic gain from the transmitter ( it must be since the rescue function looks for the negative gain?). I am just a little confused on how to do this.

Thanks for your patience in advance.

The only way to change your cyclic gain from the TX is to assign channel 7 to your bank switch in spirit and setup different cyclic gains in the different banks. Consider banks as presets. You can change the banks from your TX if you assign aux2 to a 3 position switch on the DX9

Deleted. Misunderstood the question. Sorry.

The Rescue (well, whatever Stabi function you choose) is activated by a negative TAIL GYRO GAIN value.

So if you send +66 for example, you will have Heading Hold tail gyro with a gain of 66, if you send -66 you will habe the same Heading Hold tail gyro with a gain of 66 AND the selected Stabi function acivated.

Thank you. One of the set-ups for DX9 has three banks for stability, rescue and acro rescue so the banks changing the cyclic gain make sense.

What is confusing me is the gyro gain on the diagnostic tab. Right now, this is reading the gear channel ( channel 5) which is tail gain and I would think that the developers meant it to be the cyclic gain.

Rudder gain, tail gain, and gyro gain are all the same thing. It can be confusing since the software uses a different term in different parts of the software.

OK. So the negative gain that the Sprit is seeing is actually tail gain or [tail] gyro gain and has nothing to do with the cyclic gain which can only be set in the software or by using banks?

For example, I have 60 set for all three of my flight modes in gyro and my rescue switch makes those values negative--which will activate rescue but will not actually affect the cyclic or tail gain?

Does that make sense?

Thanks

yes, as you said, no influence on any other gain or bank, only on tail gain itself and activation of selected stability Mode.

On Rescue or Stabilization Mode, Gyro stays in Heading Hold. (spirit uses term HL for Heading Lock)
If you selected "disabled" in stability Mode, your gyro will go into Rate Mode. (good for scale or to find tail center)

Meanwhile, for Rescue, I did setup my DX9 to mix Gain only to -40%, this gives only 40% Heading Hold Gain, which means less stress on Tail during rescue, leaving more ESC, Motor and BEC Power for Cyclic recovery and pitching up to get away from ground.

There you find my detailed description on how to setup DX9:
