You can use it this way. Just need to bind them at the same time. The only disatvantage is in this way, that you can't get the radio link quality feedback (fades, holds). But you get all other things, like rpm, RX voltage, flight pack voltage, temperature etc.

Yes, I use it like that. No special requirements, just unplug the signal wire between Spirit and TM1x00, otherwise you will get some funny random readings in Receiver telemetry (which you will NOT have, as Gtamas said).
Also, no need to bind them at the same time, that's kind of a urban legend - I did not even rebind the TM1x00 after swapping from AR7200BX to Spirit and satellites ))))))))))))
