A few weeks back I bought a Spirit Pro for my 500, having been very pleased with the 3 other Spirits I already had. All seemed to be working for several flights, but now the unit will not function. The Spirit initalizes as usual, and as usual flicked the rescue switch to make sure everything ok, and wiggled the sticks to check servo movement. Spooled up and took off, but heli spun round and round and crashed. Luckily had hit throttle hold, so blades boom and main drive gear seems main damage, other than broken links and landing gear etc. So, post mortem time. I had unplugged the power post crash because things were stuck in the mud, so no logs. Back indoors plugged in, Spirit initialized as usual, sticks all operated as usual. But, there is absolutely no correction of any sort by the Spirit, absolutely nothing. It just doesn't work. The crash which this caused is the only crash which the unit has had. Any help would be appreciated

Hope they find the reason for your crash, and sorry about that.

Lesson learnt, add to your pre-flight checklist to check all compensations, and not only stick inputs and rescue, this would have saved you...

Absolutely !! But the Spirits I have ( I said I have 3 others, had a recount and its 4!) have been so perfectly reliable in every aspect that I had grown a little lazy, and just checked rescue and directions etc., but not the actual compensation. Live and learn! I just hope that the unit itself is ok and can be made to work again, only had this one since Feb., and very few flights due to the weather.

I had also several times experienced on my trex 800E, that after initialization the servos not working correctly, but after a restart everything is OK. But it is sure correct, worth to check compensation directions also... Hope You fix your heli soon and it will airborne in no time.

Hello,

this is very sad, altough I believe we will find what happened.

First from all, could you please send me private message with serial number of your unit (that you can see in the software)?
From my point of view, the problem happened actually before the crash itself.
So it was not reacting probably from the beginning (or rather even earlier) of the flight that the crash happened.

One explanation why it happened is that you have performed e.g. firmware update and something bad happened (there were running more applications that communicated with the unit. As a result memory was corrupted in the unit.

Fortunately the problem can be fixed and everything will work correctly - if this really happened (which we will know immediately when you will send me the response).

On Sunday my Spirit Pro didn't work, and I posted on this forum. Today, 2 days later, I once again have a fully operational Spirit Pro and am much relieved. This is customer service which simply could not be better, I see no reason why anyone would buy anything other than Spirit ! I think that it also shows how reliable the unit is, there must by now be a great number of them in use, yet the team find time to get my one fixed in less than 2 days!! To say that I'm impressed and grateful would be an understatement. Thank you very much
