How do I update the wifi dongle without wifi (desktop comp)

I dont understand why. You can search for the networks in the tablet/smartphone, connect to the Spirit Wifi-Link AP, start the web browser and display the MAC. There can't be any problem. This is not related with any of your routers. So you really do not have to enter any MAC address there.
This can take approx. 1 minute without any configuration.

Try connecting your phone directly to the spirit wifi network. That way you bupass your MAC address filtering on your router as you are not connecting to it. Use the web interface on your phone to see he Mac address. I believe that's what Tomas is saying
