Hi, so is subtrim on rudder not a good idea then?
I have noticed that I was getting equal travel limits on my 450 tail when I had about 20 points of subtrim on the rudder.
But when I adjusted the servo middle position on my JR servo (it can be adjusted using a screwdriver) so that I was able to set rudder subtrim to zero on the Spirit software, that the end points were now no longer the same. They were off by the same amount that I was using for rudder subtrim before, about 20 points. So I suppose if people give their travel limits as an example, it really means nothing unless one knows how much subtrim is being used, if any.
Also is it important to have roughly the same amount of pitch both sides, as this will vary depending where the center of travel is?

Hi,

subtrim on all 4 servos should be used only for servo arms trimming to the center position.
So when setting the rudder, it should be exactly in the center (servo arm) when Subtrim (tuning) menu is enabled.

End points are another chapter that should be configured (always after the subtrim configuration).

Each mechanics is little bit different regarding this, especially ranges for both sides.

First I recommend to set subtrim - servo arm to the center.
Then set the tail center (by changing push rod length) so that there is slight angle (3-4°) between them (slider closer to the boom).
Then Set ranges, some helicopters can achieve very high angles (in this case you should not use full travel). Some can achieve small angles - in this case it is better to use full travel.
Only in case of unequal stopping you should decrease the travel for certain side to make it better OR to tune your tail center mechanically (by changing push rod length).

So basically when you use the Setup Wizard, you will do it in the right order.

Stops are okay now, the angle on one side was too big.

Now the last Thing I dont like is when I do rainbows from normal flight to inverted the tail shakes a little bit when i stop, rainbow inverted to normal is okay.

Settings are now:
Piro concistency: 160
Tail limits: nearly identical
Rudder delay: 0 (TailServo: KST 215)
Elevator Filter: 2
Rudder Dynamic: 6
Revomix: 2 (tailkick with 0 Revomix)

Thank you for your help so far :)

You are welcome.
I will need to know what helicopter it is? Is it trex 450?
This is important to determine good values.

Please try to increase Pirouette Consistency to 165 - 170. This may need to decrease Gyro Gain little bit. Then everything should be fine.

I tried it today and it was not that good...
When i increase piro concistency to 165/170 the tail starts oscillating on pitch pumps.
I set piro concistency 165 and lowered gyro gain from 60 to 50 but there was still the same problem during pitch pumps, in fast curves the tail did not oscillate but during pitch pumps really fast, stops were also not really good.
With piro concistency 160 the tail did not oscillate but the whole heli was shaking when i stopped the rainbow.
Small and fast rainbows or tic tocs are completely impossible at the moment...
