Have a mate I told I'd help setup a unit on his Heli however he uses a Futaba T8J and I'm a Spektrum user. I cannot seem to make sense of how the Futaba goes about doing things.
Does anybody have the time to help walk me through setting up his Futaba T8J ?
The setup guide on this site doesn't seem to apply to the T8J
I've got 3 units fitted and running fine on my Helis and shouldn't have any issues with this one , simply need some help with the TX settings only !

Hello,

I hope that this guide will help you:
http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.php?title=Futaba

It is for T8FG, but this should be very similar to T8J.

In the transmitter there is nothing special needed, only Pitch, Throttle Curves and Gyro Gain.

Depending on what you will need or miss in the guide, you can ask me for any particular thing.

Unfortunately there are a lot of available settings in comparison to Spektrum, so it will need some time.

Yes I have looked at this guide but it is not helping. For instance I cannot find a page with the Final Condition for the PRIORITY. Also Idle up 1 & 2 don't appear to have the on/off/on (etc) available.
I'm afraid I'm just lost !

OK , getting there with learning the Futaba.
One trouble I'm having is with End-Points. All can be set correctly apart from Pitch. Changing the Pitch end-points in the TX shows no change in the setup screen. Is this normal and if not , can you suggest what I may be doing wrong ?
The rest of the setup seems to be going ok. I have Rescue being triggered and everything else apart from the Pitch end-point has worked out fine.

Hello,

that is great!
Make sure that everything such as subtrims is configured to be Global, otherwise you are changing these things for each flight mode separately.
Futaba allows to set nearly all parameters for all flight modes individually, but you can change this (for each thing as needed).
Maybe problem is there.

For end-points, there are 4 values, you have to change just two middle where by default you can see 100.
What values you can see in the Diagnostic tab?

Do you use S-Bus connection?

ok , I have the pitch sorted now at 100-100 , Thanks !
Ready to do final setup and maiden in a day or two.
Futaba really are quiet complicated compared to the Spektrum I'm accustomed to !
