is it okay to keep the WiFi-Link always connected, wired and powered?

I guess it's okay, sorry, maybe dumb question but better to ask :)

Yes. It is OK, but you should enable Auto-Turn Off feature in the Web interface.
Once module is turned off in this way, then it is perfectly safe.

on iphone you can configure a specific wifi to not "auto-join"
so your iphone will connect on that wifi only if you choose to

i guess there is a similar setting on android too but i don't have one to check

okay, the wifi link switches off after inactivity, is there a way to switch it on again except re-plugging the battery? I want to check the logs with my mobile but when I re-plug the battery all the logs are reset.

himm, thanks, but doesnt apply to my setup as wifi link is powered from the receiver which is difficult to access.

maybe I can later place a switch in between.

what if I dont enable Auto-Turn Off, but not connect to WiFi?

The Wifi-Link will be still transmitting, so there will be increased noise with respect to your receiver/transmitter.
In the most cases it is not a problem, but could in theory reduce tx signal.

There are also electronic switches available that can turn power on/off and can be controlled by a free channel.
