Hi,
I bought a GeoLink at a time where no GeoLink boom mount was sold by Spirit. I made one out of a carbon plate, an aluminium bracket and 2 steel screws. Being aware that nothing of the boom mount should be magnetic because of GeoLink's compass, I am walking the extra mile and exchange the steel screws by aluminium ones. Are the screws in the GeoLink case also made of aluminium ?
Is there any reason why a GeoLink mount should not be conductive in addition ?

Unfortunately this is not recommended, because aluminium is metal and
any metallic part is distorting magnetic field and also GPS signal.
So if possible a metal or conductive parts should be avoided.
For this reason we will be offering plastic mounting solutions.

I know it can be a bit of a 'minefield' trying to find a suitable mount for the Geolink, I found what i think is the cheapest and most adjustable solutions, a pipe-clip ! The clips made by a company called 'Talon'are the ones i use, they have a locking hinged clip and a flat back ( mounting face for us ) they are made in a range of sizes from 13mm dia up to i believe 30mm dia. On my Trex 500e , i use the 15mm dia version and on my Trex700e i use the 20mm version. . . . . Check 'em out !. there even made in black too !

Hi everyone,
I was thinking of making a bracket which is more flexible during servicing and calibrating the Geolink and came up with this idea. It was design to use on 12mm OD tail tube of Trex 450L. The tail mount bracket holding method is wire-tie. Geolink will be stick on the top flat plate and secure to the tail mount bracket via 2 or 4 plastic bolt and nuts.
Actually, I already made one set with the help of 3D printing shop and waiting for the plastic screws to complete the assembly and try it on the heli.

Just my 2 cents:
Part A is looking very good. I would not use Part B, because the mounting pad for GeoLink is also providing some vibration dampening for the sensors. In case you use part B as well, you will loose some vibration dampening capabilities with your installation. GeoLink's pad alone should be good enough for securing the GeoLink on it's mount.

Thanks for your comments. My intention is to easily remove the Geolink from the heli when needed. below is my assembly plan Geolink will be mounted using 3M pad on the part B. Then the part B will mount on the part A with plastic bolt + nuts. When requires, just unscrew the 4 screws and remove the Geolink assy. Since the Geolink mount plate (part B) is flat, it can be place on a level place when calibration.
When Geolink is mounted with 3M pad on any surface, it will become almost permanent. If it mount on the part A, it will be not easy to separate it from the bracket and the whole mounting assy needs to take out from the heli.
I am planning to use the design on my Trex 700E heli. Just trying on 450L first.

carbon is also conductive, so if possible, please avoid usage of CF too.
