i guess the resistors are the two in series with the rx and tx lines
as the only other resistor is in series with the blue led

Yes, you are right. Resistor for LED should be unchanged.

I don't have a working WiFi adapter but can't decide if it's a faulty unit or me being dumb....Here's what happens:

1. Power the wifi adapter, not connected to Spirit yet
2. Look for and connect wifi to 'Spirit WiFi link 202' on Android tablet (success)
3. Put 192.168.4.1 in Chrome browser, up comes Status page with v3.1.0
4. Connect Spirit 2 to Wifi adapter (sys port)
5. Go to 'Spirit Settings' on app and 'Enter the Spirit Settings' but get instant 'Connection Problem' caption.

The reason I think it's me being dumb is that I get access to the adapter and 3.1.0 is shown, but I can't get further. The app says I'm in AP+client mode, my home wifi SSID is shown, wifi status is 'got ip address' and wifi address is 192.168.0.39, which is presumably an allocated ip address from my router. What's the significance of this address, please, if at all? I've tried 'wifi association', input my home wifi password, then changed wifi on tablet to home network. I can 'find' the adapter, but never get past the 'connection problem' issue. Incidentally, the adapter's main processor chip gets very warm, but not too hot to touch.

I'm not bothered about using my home wifi, I just want to get access to the spirit adapter and can swap to its own ip address if needed. Any help greatly appreciated - going round in circles here!

Cheers, Andy

Hello,

your Wifi-Link is probably relatively old while Spirit 2 is much newer. Your Wifi-Link require small hardware modification to make it work.
It is not related to any firmware version.
We can do this modification for free if you will ship it to us.

Here are instructions for repair after flashing 3.0.0.

Pilot with at least small technical knowledge should be able to do this repair. Otherwise we will send new module.

Hi,

thanks for the instruction! It seems to be clear, however I get a fail.
I get the message:

test running : False
serial port opened
Connecting...
chip sync error.
com closed

The status LED of the Wifi-Link remains off during the complete procedure.
Because I tried it from a virtual Windows within Mac OS, I thought this could be the reason. So I reactivated an old Windows notebook, but with the same error.

What could be wrong?

Regards,
Alexander

P.S.
Are the steps 2 and 3 in the instruction used to provide power or is the Spirit used? Could I also power connect the cables via a Y-cable to the bec?
That would make it more easy to connect.

Thanks, Tomas. In fact, this module was sent by you to replace a faulty one in the last 2-3 months - can I repair it using the same procedure you just posted or do I need to return it to you for repair?

Many Thanks, Andy

Probably serial port you selected is not correct one or there is loose connection somewhere.
Spirit unit is used only for powering.
Power supply must be same for Wifi-Link and Spirit unit.

OK, thanks, Tomas - I'll check again.
