Hello!

i had a big crash with my TDF today.
the first time with the Spirit RS.
on the ground everything worked with the DS16.
then in the air, everything ok too.
from a height of about 10m i had no contact with the ds16.
the tdf flew very high in a circle and slowly to the ground.
i couldn't pull the rescue and neither could the engine switch off!

Crash!

all of my previous spirit's, spirit pro, spirit2 worked great for years!

what was the problem?

Hello,

that is very sad. I am sure we will find the problem.

Are you sure there was nothing connected at the E2 pin?
Do you use any telemetry sensors?

Any details, logs, settings would be very helpful. Otherwise I cant help you more :(

did you successfully perform range check & failsafe test before 1st flight?

why i am asking: if you lost contact Tx/Rx => failsafe should have switched your engine off...

nb: sorry for the crash from my side too... it's always §$%$"&&"%& to destroy a beautiful heli.
cheers

Hello!

Yes, I connected the telemetry cable from the YGE 155 Saphir to E2.
All telemetry data were then correctly displayed in the DS16!
Is this a problem?

Here is the manual from the YGE Homepage:
Telemetry:
If you use a backup-battery, please make sure, that you power up the ESC first, before connecting the backup- battery to the receiver. Otherwise the telemetry might not work. The ESC sends all ESC-related data via telemetry, such as voltage, current, capacity, BEC-voltage, RPM, throttle percentage, PWM, BEC-temperature, warnings and error messages. It depends on the used receiver and transmitter, which of these data will be shown in the transmitter.
YGE (preprogrammed):
The YGE-protocol is for example for use with YGE TexY (Futaba, Spektrum, FrSky, Core), MSH Brain 2 or Spirit FBL.
Jeti ExBUS:
Please configure your receiver for using ExBUS (Not EX!) on the E1 or E2 channel and connect the telemetry cable (blue connector) with this channel. The telemetry in the ESC must be set to Jeti ExBUS in the PC-Software as well. After that, several ESC parameters can be configured in the JetiBox menu of the transmitter. You find these settings under “Mx” here.

Adding my 'bad luck' for the prang.

I suspect Tomas will be directing you to this page.....http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... _Telemetry

Pity the RS has a pin out, E2 the same as the Jeti REXs that (at the moment) can't take any connections. More of a pity that the telemetry worked for you :(

Hello,

unfortunately this will cause crash with 100% certainty, because E2 is shared pin with Spirit unit for transferring all receiver data.
It will be used only for special purposes. When Spirit board would be disabled, then E2 port can be utilized. But not when it is used at the same time.
It is only sad that it worked at the bench. That is because telemetry rate from YGE will increase significantly only in the air then it will block all the commands at EX Bus.

You have to connect it at the E1 port or use YGE telemetry wiring for Spirit.

This is very, very annoying!
Damn!
Ok, telemetry cable from YGE to E1!
And the slave cable from the YGE?
With a y-cable to E1?
So telemetry cable and slave to E1, right?

Slave can be connected at the AUX2 port.

You mean AUX port
And where can I insert a buffer?

Yes, AUX port. Buffer pack can be connected with Y-cable at the E1. This is much safer then having Slave connected via Y-cable. In case of a failure of the connection nothing will happen.

Or you can proceed according this guide:
http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... _Telemetry

Then you do not have to use any Y-cable.
