Hi,
new to telemetry I am lost getting it to work…
My components are:
- Spirit GT (3.3.3)
- Hobbywing Platinum V4, Firmware PL-04.0.07
- Futaba R7003SB, using SBUS.
- Futaba T18SZ
Using the middle PIN of the RUD-port to the RPM-cable of the Hobbywing is working fine for the Spirit internal governor, but now I am lost in getting telemetry to receive data.
As far as I understand, there should be a straight cable from the RUD-port to the S.BUS2 of the RX. Can I use a Y-cable on the RUD-port to provide this connection and the connection to the Hobbywing RPM?
And there should be a "Telem UNI Kabel“ from the SAT1-Port to the programming-port of the Hobbywing.
The RX is set to mode A, so the S.BUS2 for telemetry is the related port.
In the Spirit settings I set to Hobbywing Platinum V4.
In my TX I set sensor slot 8 to KONTRONIK, so I can choose different variables in the telemetry menue.
Done all this, I do not get any data, what am I missing or doing wrong?
Regards,
Alexander
[solved] telemetry Futaba Hobbywing
Hello,
it is important that ESC has non Vbar firmware. Otherwise it cant work.
Then it is only important that wiring is correct. Have you changed the FrSky integration cable according Futaba telemetry guide?

Hi,
yes it is the non Vbar version.
Regarding the FrSky integration cable, I thought for the Spirit GT it is just a straight cable needed?!?
Maybe the problem is the y-cable I use at the RUD-port to have telemetry and the RPM-signal of the Hobbywing for the Spirit-governor? The governor is working that way...

Hi,
Y cable can be used. So it can work together.
You can use both Governor and have telemetry also.
Can you see at least RPM? - this should work even without telemetry enabled, but with plugged RPM cable at the PIT pin.

Hi,
yes, I can see RPM in the spirit settings and governor is working just fine.
Do I need anything else for telemetry besides the straight patchcable between the RUD-port (with Y-cable) and the S.BUS2-port of the receiver?

Hi,
to reactivate the topic, what else do I need to do to get the HobbyWing telemetry to work? So far I have a straight patch cable between the S.BUS2 port of the R7003SB and the RUD port on the Spirit GT.
As far as I understand, I also need the Telem UNI cable between SAT1 and the programming port on HobbyWing, right?
Since the S.BUS of the R7003SB was already connected to the RUD port, I have the S.BUS and the S.BUS2 connected to the RUD port via a Y-cable.
Is this really OK?

Hi,
connecting S.BUS and S.BUS2 together will cause big troubles.
If you want to use telemetry, then only S.BUS2 port should be used. S.BUS port should be unused.
You should see RPM even without ESC telemetry and vibrations in your radio. In this way you can check Futaba telemetry is working well.
To allow ESC telemetry you need to connect HobbyWing telemetry. Wiring diagram is here:

Hi,
OK, that was my misunderstanding, I thought, I need both S.BUS and S.BUS2.
So now I switched the RX7003SB to mode B to just have S.BUS2 and everything is working as expected.
Sady the HobbyWing V4 does not deliver battery current, but that was known.
Thanks for clarification!

Great,
HobbyWing has support for current measurement except 60A ESC model.
