I'm looking for a new 550 (6s) size heli
I have been waiting for the Raw 580 but then came across the Tron brand and like the look of their 5.5
They seem to fly well and have a good reputation from what I have seen on YouTube but I was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience and could share their opinion on the overall quality of the kits and parts support etc
I'm aware that there is no dealer in the UK at the moment, and this is the one thing that bothers me, but they are readily available from dealers in Europe at a good price

Any opinions/advice welcome

I am sure both will fly well. It depends on if you can get parts easily and if you like design.
I have not saw any issue that can't be resolved easily on both.

I have both. They are both nice flying helis, but I prefer the Raw 580. I like how the belt drive and transmission sound on the SAB :)

I had one minor issue with the Tron 5.5 where one of the boom mounts wasn't cut so that it could clamp down on the boom, but that was quickly fixed with a hacksaw.

SAB was of course flawless.

I haven't needed to contact support for either so I can't speak to that.

To be honest the more I read about Tron the more it makes me realise that SAB is the way to go
They have no UK dealers and can't tell me if they will be having any so spares and support would be hit and miss
Tron have also recently stopped dealing with their German distributor after a fall out with him

I'm looking forward to adding the first SAB to my fleet of Align and Mikado heli's

I have just cleared 30 flights on my SAB Raw 580 and Im in absolute love with the helicopter. The transmission sounds sublime compared to a regular pinion to main gear setup like on the tron. Especially when you pull some G's and hear the belt lay the power down, gets me everytime.

I never tried the Tron 5.5. However, I built a Tron 5.8 about a month ago. So both my 248 flights old Kraken 580 and now my 106 flights old Tron 5.8 were built with similar electronics and main blades. I cannot say I like one better than the other. They both have their respective advantages, and they both fly and autorotate really well. I've never tried the RAW 580, but I assume it should be a bit more agile overall than the Kraken 580, as it should have less overall drag, so somewhat similar to the Tron 5.8. I don't think one can go wrong with any of these airframes.
