I've not done head setup yet, therefore the cyclic ring, servo travel correction and collective pitch settings are all untrusted.

I wouldn't put any stabilisation mode on for when you are taking off. It should be set to disabled for this, as I've heard pretty much across the board any flybarless unit shouldn't have any stabilise or rescue function on when you are beginning your flight, you switch to stabilised mode if you wish once you are in the air at a decent altitude.

I've got everything set on channels now much simpler. I will have to chang my stability to switched as you said. It does ring a bell that others systems tell you not to switch anything on till your in the air but i couldn't find anything spirit telling me. Would @ZeXx86 be able to tell me?

May i ask for what reason that is? There is no problem taking off in stabi mode. The thing you should NOT have active is position or altitude hold! That will not let you take off.


But you can have it in stabi scale. And i land and take off with it.

I'm not 100% sure but, I've seen quite a few crashes from stabilisation mode being on when taking off. I have to confess though NONE of them have been spirit units, mainly beastx and others. I've heard horror stories of this happening too along with the videos i've seen this happen. I just thought it was a given across the board but obviously not. Just ignore my comment then as it obviously doesn't happen to these units.

we do have stabilization active on my wife's helis all the time... from spool up to spool down after flight. never any topic with that.

The reason for not having the stabi on when landing or taking off (I believe) is if the heli is on a level surface when it is powered up and the FBL initialises level. Then you put the heli on a slope (the flying field) and spool up the FBL will try and level the heli but as it is on the ground it can't, so the swash keeps moving to level the heli. This causes it to tip over. This may not be true with the current software or the Spirit FBL and would most likely be affected by your stabilization gain setting.
If you power up the FBL where you are taking off from this may not cause the problem. If it works for you with it on that is great.
