forward flip rate very slow GTR and RS

I have a Spirit GTR and RS installed in 550-class helis. Both have the same issue:

If I perform a flip from a hover (stick at the limit) to the left, right or rear (nose goes up, tail down) the rotation rate is quick as expected. If I flip forward (nose down, tail up) the rotation rate is about 1/3rd of the other directions.

On the ground the swash appears to tilt the same amount for all directions.

Firmware 3.7.2 on both. Setup was through the PC app using the guided setup. Tx is a Jeti DC-24.

I looked through the settings available but don't see anything that seems relevant.

Any suggestions?
