Upgrading from 3.5.0

I have been away from flying for a a long time and now want to start flying again, my Spirit 2's are all on 3.5.0.
Should I upgrade immediately and if I do will my settings be saved ?
Is there a quick list of things I need to do going from 3.5.0 to the latest firmware.
