I am about to setup my first helicopter on Spirit W3 @ 4.0.3.
  • Nimbus 550 v2
  • weak damped head (70° rubber rings, from Nimbus v1)
  • classic head geometry, not 1:1 (from Nimbus v1)
The 4.0.3 is already much better than the 4.0.2 which I run with Spirit RS before. But, I wished it would be more precise, more stable against wind. I was wondering which of the setup parameter is most important for weak damped heads:
  • Cyclic sensitivity
  • Feed forward
  • Elevator filter
Any suggestions? Maybe a weak damped head will never be as stable/ loggin-in as it is known from stiffer heads?
Thank's and best regards
Christian

Some more information on what I did: flew the very first 3 batteries on 4.0.3 yesterday.

First, reduced the Elevator Filter from 3.0 to 1.5, because it seems so damped on elev. in comparison to roll.

Feed Forward is still at 4 (default, class 600 heli)

I raised the Head gain (cyclic sensitivity) up to 80%, but starts to be shakey. Went down to 70%. What I have known so far, 80% should be possible with weak heads. I prefer the feeling of 80% and using this on all my SAB helicopters, which have 90° damped heads.

Finally, head speeds around 2000-2100 feel much better to me than 1600-1800. The higher head speeds feel, of course, more acrobatic. I am struggeling with the head speed below 2000. It feels so unprecise and unstable to influence from wind.

It was 3-4 Bft wind, yesterday.

What can I do to make it more logged-in? Maybe changing the dampening? ;)

Hello,

our piltos are flying much lower RPM with Nimbus, but very different adjustment is needed.
Mainly you can increase stability and precision with higher Swashplate - Integral value.
If you can share your settings file, I can check all parameters.

Hello, thank you for your quick reply.

I will try the Integral value. Attached you will find my current setting.
