First let me start by saying I know this is not supported and should NOT be used for firmware updates.
I have seen a few comments in another thread that it will work if I set the Baud rate to 56k. I found the command reference for the RN42 module but before I start hacking away at the module I was wondering if any of you can provide the commands I need to enter. I am assuming I need to do the following:
Connect though Putty
??? <-- Enter command mode
SU,57 <-- Set UART baud rate to 57,600
--- <-- Exit command mode
Then disconnect and reboot.
Is this correct?

You do not need to reconfigure your module at all.
It should be only matter of PC configuration.

Ahh, OK, thanks. It unfortunately does not matter any more as it looks like my stupidity caused me to fry my Bluetooth module. I accidentally connected it to a battery with the poles reversed. Stupid me
