I imagine Tomas will eventually chime in during business hours, but in the mean time, you may want to try re-flashing the malfunctioning W1 firmware and it restore to factory settings.

I have tried doing that already, thank you.

Thank you for posting those details,
but the receiver W1 is currently not responding!
It did originally bind and work, but now is bricked.
It will not bind, or respond at all.
The new W1 behaves perfectly.
The problem is not my misunderstanding of how to bind, but the fact that the original W1 is non-responsive!!!!
I need either a facility to deliver the original W1 to factory status, or a new W1!
I have not inadvertently mis-powered the unit, it has rather failed!
Regards,
Andy

I am having very basic logical difficulty with switch positions!

Some of my main issue is the use of English language.
There is a clear logical difference between a switch being 'active' and 'engaged'
I am personally, stupidly or not, having difficulty when programming with this new radio, working out 'engaged' switch positions.
I know perfectly well what I want to achieve, but the description and symbolism is problematic.
If a switch symbol shows red colour - is it engaged or just active?
Anyway, I still have a bricked receiver and am plodding with normal set-up.

Andy

Hello,
please open new thread where we can resolve the issue. For now I have no detail about what was done and what is your wiring. This thread is about navigating the Wave, so I guess it will be better to open thread about W1 recovery. No need to ship it, there is very high chance it can be fixed by you in a few steps.

Regarding your original problem, I am also little bit confused, because what you need to achieve is super simple and should be way much easier than with the most other radios. The main logic is identical with other radios until not set differently.
The steps are following:
1. Create 3 different Flight Modes in
Model - Flight Modes.
2. Assign a switch for each Flight Mode so you can see they can be switched. Try to change switch position and see if big black Flight Mode window will appear during switching.
3. Make sure you have
not enabled Throttle Curve sharing between Flight Modes - this will cause behavior you can see. Please check
Model - Flight Modes - Second page and verify Throttle Curve sharing is not enabled there. Otherwise you will see warning notification that Fligt Mode sharing is enabled and so the curve will be same for each flight mode. This is very likely your problem, by default it is disabled.
4. Go to
Model - Throttle and set Throttle Curve/RPM you need. This must be done so that you will switch to a flight mode with assigned switch and then you can set it.
By the way there is no need to use a Bank Switching with Wave. You can assign and set Spirit parameters individually for each flight mode.
Nothing else or nothing special is needed. Please make sure you are at the latest 1.0.14 firmware.
When changing Flight Mode with you will immediately see at the Throttle page that values are changing.
Please see Flight Mode page:

Thank you,
I have no normal problem with Flight mode or any other facility with any other radio.
My main problem is, ultimately, that the original W1 is bricked.
Can't resurrect it at all?
Andy

It can fixed for sure, but I will need at least some details. At the moment I only know it is bricked. Knowing what was the original RX firmware version, what was version to which you wanted to update and how you tried to update will help (with PC/Wave).
Also is something connected at the T1 port?
Or in other words after which operation it stopped to work?
