Yes, I always have a LAN-connection to access the internet an a WiFi-connection to access the unit.
But you are right, when disconnecting the LAN-connection, I have access the unit.
However now, I can not start an update, because I have no internet connection. (Spirit server unreachable).

This mean there is some issue with routing in your Mac.
It has to change priority of the networks to access Wifi-Link first.

On both Macs with no changes in the network?

From a network perspective, 192.168.4.X only exists on the WiFi interface as a local network, so why would routing be necessary?

Anyway, I tested the following: I changed the priority of the interfaces, WiFi first, Ethernet second. This allows me to connect to the unit, but the entire Mac and with it the settings app no longer have Internet access. The priority 1 interface with 192.168.4.x without a gateway cannot access the Internet, so I switched back to Ethernet as highest priority interface.

Then I tested the following: I disabled the WiFi interface on my Mac and tried to access the unit via its IP address on the local network, which is available on the Mac via the LAN cable, but no unit was found, even though it can be pinged. With only one active interface and only IPs in my local network, neither interface-based nor Layer 3-based routing can cause any routing problems.

In addition, a ping was and is always successful with active Wi-Fi via 192.168.4.1, as well as simultaneously via the active LAN via the unit's IP address in the local network. I still suspect a problem with the settings app, it still works with version 3.7.2 for me, but not since version 3.7.4.

But I am open to being convinced otherwise.

Alexander

Your finding is very helpful. If it still works with old version there must be something wrong. It look like some new library is causing issues.
