Good morning from the UK, I'm currently setting my hell up and I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on which is better? Should I use the governor on the ESC or the spirit unit?

Thanks in advance

Hell?? Ohh sh*t! :D

It will help if you tell us what ESC you are using.

Currently I run the internal governor on the Hobbywing Platinum V3.

Yes it will be hell when I'm at the controls ha ha. I'm running a v4 platinum Pro ESC. So from your answer i guess you would say use the one on that yes?

Thanks.

Well, you have a perfect ESC to do both. :)

The internal governor (use Heli Governor Store) is simply set and forget.
Works really well, no tuning and no extra wiring to the Spirit is needed.

For the Spirit governor you need to connect the yellow ESC wire to the PIT port on the Spirit unit.
Then you open the Spirit Settings software and set some parameters. (See manual).
Finally some tuning is needed to make it work. (Do tweak "Governor Response" and "Holding Performance".)

Make sure you read this:
http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... RPM_output
http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... n#GOVERNOR

I did both and currently use the internal Hobbywing governor.
However lots of users use the Spirit gov. with great success.

Try both and let us know how you end up!

I like things easy so I'll probably go for the ESC governor option.

Thanks for your help
