can I use an external gov with the spirit, if so where do I plug in the gain channel
Yes, you can.
You can plug in the gain channel in any free receiver port or directly to the CH0 port in case of Spirit Pro. If using CH0, you have to assign F: Output to CH0 in the General/Channels and select available channel.
