Does the aileron differential parameter in the Spirit work like conventional differential and decrease the downward movement of the ailerons? The manual for the Ultimate suggests 40 degrees up and 35 degrees down at full throws. How do I achieve this in the Spirit?

Yes, it is working in this way. You can just set it at 87% to achieve what you wish.

Tomas; the 0% aileron differential default setting means its off? I would have guessed to set about 11% to reduce throw from 40 to 35 degrees. Just so I dont mess things up!

Oops, yes, you are perfectly right.
Just calculator was giving incorrect value (opposite) :)

You can calculate it in this way:
value = (1 - (35 / 40)) * 100
