Hi,
probably your Gyro Gain is not configured and is left at 0% in your radio.
In this case Rudder mode is Normal (Rate) which is what you will don't like since tail will not hold too well.
You only have to set your Gyro Gain to something like 50% as recommended in the Setup Wizard and manual.
Once you will make your base configuration we can continue with Rescue.

Think it's sorted .Not sure what the reason was as rudder is now reaching extents. .
Id like to assign switch f on my dx9 to rescue as i pinch the tx sricks and wouldnt reach to rear of tx .is it poss to give me a walkthrough on how to acheive this .ive read so many different threads I'm confused

Hello,
that is great!
The easiest way in your transmitter could be to:
1. Assign a switch to Governor function in your radio. Governor because this function is usually unused and it can be freely used for anything. We need just to change channel value from -100% to 100%. This should be assigned to channel 7, 8, 9 or 10 - any that is unused.
I expect that you are using Spektrum satellite or other single-line receiver, right?
In the Channel Monitor you should be able to see that channel is really doing something when switching.
2. In the Spirit Settings, go to: General/Channels and assign F: Stabi function to Channel 7, 8, 9 or 10 (one that you selected in your radio).
3. Then in Stabi/Function set Rescue (Normal) or (Acro) and all is done.
When changing switch position the swashplate should move to the positive collective pitch. At this moment you are ready to fly.

That's terrific and thanks . but I was under the assumption that the gain had to be switched to negative value to initiate rescue. How does the method above incorporate the gain if at all

You are welcome

This method does not require any Gain changes. It is method described here:
