The GeoLink manual recommends mounting at least 5cm away from rigid conductive parts. However the manual also shows examples of installations that appear to be only 2-3cm away from carbon fibre and aluminium booms. Are thin walled booms in close proximity acceptable, as opposed to thick walled structures?

ok thanks. Also, would mounting beneath the rear end of a glass fibre Goblin canopy be acceptable? The GeoLink would have visibility of the sky, but only clearly through a 6mm opening along the centre line of the canopy. I expect that this is not ideal, but would rather not mount the GeoLink a long way along the boom if possible. In other words, would there be sufficient GPS visibility of the sky if partially obscured by a thin glass fibre canopy?

It will still work for sure, but there will be performance impact. So it only depends on how much it will be visible and if it will be still acceptable for you.

Ok thanks. I'll try it and will move it back to a clear sky view if necessary. I'll soon have one installed on a different heli so will have something to compare in terms of performance. I expect that there will be no perceptible difference and will report back if this is not the case.

Is a thin paint layer an option, to blend in the Geolink cap to the body on a scale helicopter?

I have a hard time to find a spot on a scale body, that doesn't show the sensor.

So that means, the pink cover must see the sky, but can be painted in body color.
The signal does go through a thin paint layer.
