WiFi module does not boot after battery reconnect

Hi,

I am having some trouble with my newest WiFi module connected to a Spirit GT.

Whenever I reconnect the battery to the system after some changes for a reeboot, die WiFi module does not boot up correctly. The blue light is just glowing weakly and no connection is possible, no SSID is recognized. Then I have to unplug the power cord of the module and after immediately reconnecting, it is booting up correctly and is accessible.
I checked disconnecting the battery for more than 5 minutes from the system before powering it up again, but still the WiFi module behaves the same way. Also I tried gathering power for the module at AUX2 or CH0 with no different behavior.

Any advice on this?

Regards,
Alexander

Hi,

is your Spirit unit updated to the latest version?
This could be the problem.

Great, do you use some buffer pack? This could also affect this behavior.

As temporaral solution disconnecting the connector from SYS port will resolve the problem I believe.

Hi,

no, there is no buffer in place. Disconnecting the connector from the SYS port might be a little bit easier, than the power connector in the middle of the other ports, as it is at the edge, but I am not used to that behavior from all my other units...

Hi,

any update here?

I now have 2 Spirit GT with WiFi modules with the same problem.
With no other Spirit unit type I have that problem.

Most of the time the first powering up is OK.
But after then, most of the time, when I reconnect the battery, the WiFi module does not turn on properly, the blue LED just glows dimly, and no WiFi connection may be established. Reconnecting the battery several times may help after 5 or 10 or more retries, but also often does not. Also waiting for 10-30 seconds to reconnect the battery does not help. Only when the WiFi module power is reconnected while the Spirit unit is up and running, it starts normally.

To me it looks like that if the WiFi module starts up while it is connected to the Spirit unit which is not finished starting up, there might be some state of the SYS-port causing the WiFi module not to start properly. If that was the reason, starting up the WiFi module with a delay after providing power to it, could help.
This is just a point of view of a layperson...

However, is really annoying to me, because the connectors of the module are covered and I can not reach them without disassembly of some parts... - and then I also could connect the USB cable and would not need the WiFi module.

Regards,
Alexander

I have hot glued all my plugs into the Spirit. To get around plugging in The wifi unit everytime, What I've done Is permanently attach 2 extension leads to the spirit gt. Now all I do is plug the WiFi unit into the extension lead which is placed in a convenient position.

We believe next firmware update will resolve the issue. We can send it for testing tomorrow.

Hi,

using extensions could be a workaround, however a fix is much better... :D
I will be offsite for some days, so I will not be able to test it until May. But a fix will be much appreciated!

Hi,

back home, I would be grateful for a pre-firmware for testing.
