Spirit GT in TT Titan x50 - strange behaviour

Hello!

I have fitted a GT to my Thunder Tiger x50 Titan, I am running an FBL head.

I have recently rebuilt this machine that has been sitting idle for a few years. I wanted to test the vibrations and also using the Spirit Governor (1st time using a Gov on a Nitro).

When raising the engine speed to 50% or engaging the Gov to get a headspeed of 1500rpm I am seeing the swashplate tilting to the left and holding there.

When running this test I don't have the main or tail blades mounted.

Is this normal because there is no load on the motor or a sign of some serious vibration issue I need to look into?

All the bearings are good and everything moves freely.

Appreciate any help!

I have found the source of some of the vibration - the starter shaft that goes into the one-way bearing in the clutch was bent & the one-way bearing itself was worn badly and very noisy.

I will try the heli with blades on, increasing the engine rpm slowly to see if the same thing happens.

It is very good you have found the source of the vibration. It seems this level was at least 2 orders higher of what is normal for helicopter.

sorry, for the "off topic question":
did the gov work properly?
I still facing problems holding/setting any headspeed rpm, sometimes it works very well as expected, sometimes seems to be set randomly higher than the predetermined value. Any info regarding setting, used trottle servo and servo power supply could be of interest

Thank you.
Kay

I did not really get that far, I was only teting on the bench - I did not get the heli into a hover

Hello,

if you are unsure then you can start the motor with Vibration Analysis tool in the Spirit Settings. If possible please save the plots and attach them here. I can let you know what could be wrong.

I will do that, thanks Tomas.
