Geolink Firmware Update - .4dg file Location

Hi, I have a number of Geolinks (V1) that need the firmware updated (currently v1.0.2). I noted in a previous support answer that the update is carried out by the Spirit software (I am running 3.4.1). When I go to the Geolink section of the spirit software it asks for the location of the .4dg file and expects this to be on my PC. Could you please point in me the right direction to find this file?

Thanks

Adrian

Hi there, I bought a GeoLink a short time ago and have been struggling to get it going. It's now asking for an update, where on my laptop should this .4dg file go? At the moment it's sitting in my 'Downloads' folder.

Fingers crossed, I've been waiting almost a week for someone from support to respond to my thread (summer holidays?).

Hello,

you can download the latest firmware online directly from Spirit Settings software.
No need to download any files. Only install the latest version of the Spirit Settings and then you can update to 1.2.1 version which is the latest one for GeoLink v1.

Thanks for the feedback on this. I'll transfer it now and continue tomorrow when I'm with the helicopter.

OK, tried it and all was looking good until the message came through to press 'Flash' and 'Recovery Mode' buttons 'as fast as possible'. Obviously, I wasn't fast enough and now the system is constantly saying that the module is not detected or the connection is not stable.

Please assist with any suggestions how to progress.

Ah, it seems you performed flashing in the recovery mode.
This is not a problem, but you have to select firmware for GeoLink v1 1.2.1 in any case.
This is very important. After selecting correct version it should work well again.

Hi there, I have successfully loaded the Firmware. I think that the main problem is Spirit's lack of installation information. I am going through the process of capturing this and testing its accuracy maybe with the purchase of a second device for another of my helicopters.

It would be better if the unit would identify itself as v1 only. The v2 Firmware is offered as the default item and the v1 1.2.1 is 'hidden' at the bottom of the list. In addition, the extreme absence of clear instructions left me having to spend a lot of time just plugging/unplugging and pressing buttons with no clear objective other than to master it.

Finally, my original query is still listed in the 'Unanswered Posts' together with others sitting on 21 pages dating back to early 2014. This doesn't seem like a good way of doing things... best to just delete them if you don't have time for them.
