Greetings,

I’ll appreciate if someone who has a TB70 can check how many amps it pulls without any blades installed. Please state ESC and head speed.

Mine pulls 34A running without blades and I want to know if this is normal.

I’ve attached a log chart of the HobbyWing telemetry in a Spirit GT of a flight of the TB70. It pulls a lot of amps flying around and a lot more when doing some 3D.
The ESC is an Align 130A.

Hello David,
sorry I have no TB-70 but my specter pulls at max. rpm without blades aprox. 4 A, unfortunately, I don't know exactly anymore !
It can not be so much like you said - there is something wrong.
Is it stiff when turned by hand? Then it could be that the distance between the motor pinion and the main gear is too small . If not, can it then be a factor of 10 that shows too much of the current?
What says your ESC inside ? Are there telemetry values visible?

My ESC is an YGE Aureus 265 HVT
Max. RPM was approx. 1830 U/min

Best regards

it's easy
i use one esc hobbywing 130 amp on my sab goblin raw 580.
130amp for 580
130amp for 700 it's too small.
I have bought in the past the kit model+electronics align and I had problems too.
In my case the servants align.
in your case
an esc too small for that size.
I understand it's annoying buy a kit and understand that's not good.
Try to put a proper esc for the 700

Thank you guys.

The drive train is fine and so the gear mesh.

I used an accurate RMS clamp on current meter and found the telemetry amps readings are way off:

29.1A shown vs 6.59A measured by the clamp on meter.
34.9A shown vs 9.04A measured by the clamp on meter.

In contrast, the Battery Voltage and ESC Temperature readings are correct.

I noticed the RPM value shown in the Telemetry Tab are the motor rpm although the values of poles division and gear ratio are entered. The Settings Software isn’t converting the RPM.
The RPM value shown in the 18SZ Tx is correct.

I have no idea why the current readings are off as I have followed the telemetry configuration as instructed.

Hello David,
what shows you consumed capacity is it also wrong ?
There is an I-Shunt setting in the telemetry of the ESC (Hobbywing V4 ?)
The description is highlited if your Mouse is over the I-Shunt-Field -
I think here you can try to correct the telemetry value -

Best regards

Hi Matthias,

Yes, it’s wrong as well because it’s calculated from the current value.
The I-Shunt doesn’t affect the current reading, just consumed capacity.

Hi Matthias,

You are right!
The I-Shunt value changes the current value displayed in the telemetry screen.
I have to check if the Current value accuracy holds throughout the current range.

There is an issue with the Kontronik Sensor that’s used with the HobbyWing/Futaba telemetry. The issue is the Consumption Capacity (Battery Discharge as it’s called in the Kontronik Sensor telemetry) alarm can’t be set below 10.00Ah!
This is why I bumped the I-Shunt value; to reach a Consumption Capacity over 10Ah equivalent to the capacity level I want to be notified.

I have to check if another sensor of the ones the Futaba 18SZ has works with the HobbyWing telemetry and that let me set the alarm at the true value.

Many thanks,
David

Ok, I found how to enter lower values than the default ones in the Kontronik Sensor Upper Battery Discharge Limit: The lower limit of the alarm has to be equal or less than the upper limit, whether the lower limit is active or not. Softwares…Oh well.

I don’t know why I’m not able to upload pictures now. I get the error “invalid image file” but I uploaded similar pictures some hours ago.
