Spirit documentation refers to opening spirit integration from the Heli Tuning menu:

My transmitter does not show the Spirit menu item, instead I have to open integration from Device Explorer.

I would prefer to open the integration for Heli Tuning, since navigation is quicker this way.

Can this be configured in any way?

You have to set up radio model with Spirit type first. From then this option will show up. Please proceed according beginning of this guide you linked. If done step by step, it should work (at least if not using very old radio firmwares)

I never use the "Jeti New model" function, since I normally copy existing "non spirit" models with flight phases, switch configuration, preflight checks etc.

But I found another way to open device explorer very quickly: Pressing the menu button and then the right most menu button on the radio will bring you directly there.

You have to set up radio model with Spirit type first.

It is also possible to change it in an existing setting-file, no need to start from scratch.
