Spirit 1 and RX7 - full integration missing

My Spirit 1 seems not to work with full Wave-TX integration.
- I updated a Spirit 1 to 4.0.2, factory reset and receiver type set to Spirit RX
- Wiring as requested with RUD/AIL cable and connected to pin #2 (which is set to "Spirit RX")
- In Wave: New model created of type "Heli"
- Binding to RX7 established
Problem: All icons which need a connection to a Spirit unit are grayed out. When going to "update/Spirit unit" the message is "connection to Spirit unit required".
Connecting the Spirit settings program from my PC, I can see under diagnostics, that channels are controlled properly. So there is a working one way connection to the unit.
I took the same Test environment (cable and model in Wave) and connected it to a Spirit Pro. Everything worked fine immediately.
Is it possible, that the Spirit 1 unit is too old?
