New version 4.0.3 released!

Fine-Tuning update with a major news for all Spirit units is available now!

Changes are following:
  • New Spirit Altitude Hold function:
    • Spirit W1, Spirit W3, Spirit GT, Spirit GTR and Spirit 3 units can use Altitude Hold feature even with no GeoLink connected!
    • Simply configure F: Spirit Altitude Hold in the General/Channels and thats it!
    • You can adjust correction gain at the Stabi/Stabilisation page to achieve the best holding result.
    • This feature can be used anytime when GeoLink support is turned off.
    • You can engage it also for a normal flying mode.
    • Engaging altitude is taken as set point.
    • Switch at +100% will hold altitude with no Pitch input allowed from pilot.
    • Switch at -100% will hold altitude and allow Pitch input from pilot.
    • NOTE: Stabi/Function must be set to Selected by Channel.
    • WARNING: Always engage at a high altitude!
    • WARNING: Disengage before lift off and landing!
  • 3DMaster mode now available in PC software:
    • From now all pilots can fully utilize 3DMaster mode! If you are very experienced pilot and you like to tweak your model, that is perfect fit for you!
    • You can fully configure PID Regulation at the Sensor tab for each axis separately.
    • Rotation rates and Feed Forward parameters for each axis are also separate.
    • This mode has new Swashplate I-Relax for configuring Integral relax function to eliminate bounce back during hard stops while using high Integral gains. This can be used as an alternative for Swashplate Stop Smoothing or together at the same time.
    • NOTE: Radio Integration support is limited for 3DMaster mode yet. Only Spirit Wave has full support for now.
  • Swashplate - Regulation:
    • Complete redesign of the Integral regulation math for achieving top notch precision.
    • All swashplate movements should be more precise.
  • Swashplate - Dampening:
    • Very high value will not cause imprecision in uncontrolled axis anymore.
    • You can set high value without noticing an odd effect.
    • Default value 10 is still recommended for the most models.
  • Rudder Algorithm:
    • Rudder algorithm was redesigned with aim for delivering the best stopping performance.
    • Stick initial response was split from stopping configuration. Both can be adjusted individually.
    • Rudder Feed Forward - From now you can set Rudder Feed Forward (previously known as Rudder Dynamic) for adjusting initial response and overal sharpness.
    • Stopping tweaking:
      • Stopping is configured through Stop Gains (CW and CCW direction).
      • By default it is preconfigured to work well with the most helicopters.
    • Rudder Stop Smoothing parameter has much more noticeable effect and is preconfigured to 5 by default. For a stiff rudder mechanics this parameter can greatly improve stopping performance. It could also help with a smaller helicopters significantly. If tail is oscillating during stopping but is performing well otherwise, please use this parameter. Stop Gains are located in the Expert menu - Rudder.
  • ESC telemetry - Kontronik TelMe:
    • Added new data checking for all telemetry frames.
    • This will avoid displaying and logging incorrect values.
  • New ESC telemetry - FlyRotor:
    • All FlyRotor ESCs are fully supported and can display ESC telemetry.
    • All Spirit units except v1 have this support.
    • Wiring can be done through Telem UNI cable at the SAT1 port.
  • ELRS/CRSF telemetry:
    • New telemetry variables that carry RPM and Temperature natively.
  • ELRS/CRSF integration:
    • Fixed problem with manual Rudder Gain settings in the integration menu.
  • 760µs Throttle Servo support:
    • Spirit units have native support for 760µs from now.
    • Set this option in the General/Throttle window.
    • This option is not suitable for ESC wiring!
  • Spirit Wave integration with Spirit 1:
    • Spirit 1 produced from 2009 can be fully configured from Wave radios now!
  • Swashplate ground mode:
    • When no vibrations are detected Spirit will remain in the Ground mode which allows faster decay to neutral position.
    • Previously ground mode was sometime triggered by ESC fan which should not happen anymore.
    • Even if moving with model or giving a stick input on the bench ground mode is still active.
  • Spirit Settings UI:
    • User Interface was reworked to improve navigation through the menus.
    • Menu Tabs were relocated to a Side panel.
    • Minimize and Maximize window buttons are displayed on Windows and OSX now.
  • Spirit Settings Theme:
    • You can configure App Theme in the Configuration - Appearance window.
    • Available themes are:
      • Default
      • Dark Yellow
      • Dark Red
      • Dark Blue
      • Cocoa
    • Mac OSX will use theme Cocoa by default.
  • Spirit Settings support for Spirit W3:
    • From now pilots with Spirit W3 can configure all features.
Update for the Spirit units, Wave radios is available in our Download section.

NOTE: Parameter Advanced/Rudder - Stop Smoothing is configured to 5 after update from a previous versions.
NOTE: Parameters Advanced/Expert/Rudder - Stop Gain CW and Advanced/Expert/Rudder - Stop Gain CCW are preconfigured to 120 and 80% by default.
NOTE: After update you might need to readjust Rudder Stop Gains.
NOTE: We recommend to use Spirit firmware 4.0.3 with the PC software 4.0.3. Make sure to update both.

Big thanks to Timo Wendtland and Yang Jun and all other Team and Test pilots for extensive support and testing!
