Has the stabi steering changed in the latest firmware? And if so what has changed.

Yes, it is changed completely.

Steering is very natural now. You can fly even 3D maneuvers easily. All is dependent on your settings.
There are two stabilisation modes.

The best is to try it :)

Can you guys explain more in depth what do you mean steering and you can now fly easy 3D???

Rescue mode I understand is to level the helicopter and push up with positive pitch that's clear enough, but what exactly is the stabilization mode?? what does it do and what flight characteristics does it have?

Stabilisation is stabilizing helicopter to the horizontal position all the time so after releasing sticks it is back in horizontal position.
Rate of returning to the horizontal position can be configured - this allow to use it widely for different functions.

You can fly with scale helicopters or just learn maneuvers. So it can fly like coaxial helicopter.
