Governor - motor soft startup

Hi,

Am I right that the Spirit governor does not support a motor soft start and the soft start must still enabled in the ESC?

Thanks,
Pexy

Hi,

Spirit Governor fully supports soft start with all ESCs. You only have to configure starting point with Min. parameter.

Thanks for your answer.

I'm not sure if you have understood my question: when I, for example, configure a Castle Creations ESC in "Airplane" mode, it does not soft start the motor. That is, when I switch from 0% to 80% throttle the motor spins up in a second to 80% which is not good for helis.

So, my question is does the Spirit ramp up the speed slowly, or must the ESC still run in Heli mode in order to soft start the rotor.

Thanks,
Peter

Spirit has it's own soft start and you are supposed to be able to use NO soft start in the esc (airplane and multirotor for example).

It sounds like you are bypassing the spirit soft start somehow. I think this will happen if the spirit does not see a throttle signal below 1250us. If it goes under that then soft start is activated. This is how autorotation bailout works, and mine is not yet working, so everything I just said might be wrong. Still working on this and governor issues.

To use soft start from the beginning you have to configure the range of your ESC so it will start from 1250us.
You can do so just by using Subtrim in your transmitter or by changing Min. parameter to for example -130.
