Hello I am new to both the Spirit and JR XG14 radio I just purchased. Is there a video or some form of instruction manual on how to set up the Spirit on this radio?

Thank you

Dean

Hello,

if you are using standard receiver connection, you only have to disable CCPM mixing in your transmitter so one axis correspond to one channel.
Then you can proceed as with any other transmitter. Basically you can start with the Rudder channel, then you can start the software, go to the Diagnostic tab and see if you are really moving with the rudder. If yes, you can continue with next channel until everything will be connected and working properly.
Remember that direction in the diagnostic tab does not matter so you do not have to use reverses yet.

If you want to use X-Bus serial connection (one wire), you will need to use Mode B and SRXL receiver type in the software. Also some channels should be swapped to make it work correctly.

If you will need more help, feel free to ask me.

Thank you for the quick response! I'm building a Synergy E7SE and I was using the Demo version of the software (I don't have the airframe yet) - and I noticed there's a Model Preset drop-down at Step4/11 of the Setup Wizard. Is there any chance a preset can be made? Would I have to go through all the setup if I can choose a preset?

Is using XBUS from the receiver with 1 wire the best method?

The equipment I'm using is:

JR RG731BX receiver
3x JR DS8717 servos for cyclic
1 MKS HBL980 tail servo
Kontronic POWERJIVE 120+
KDE X700XF-535-G3 motor

Regards,

Dean

Hello,

you are welcome.

In case of X-Bus, you will need to set the channels in the unit in this way:
Throttle = 4. channel (can be unassigned)
Aileron = 1. channel
Elevator = 2. channel
Rudder = 3. channel
Gyro Gain = 5. channel
Pitch = 6. channel
Bank = 7. channel (can be unassigned)

and in the transmitter you will need to set X-Bus mode B. Then it should work in the way that channels will correspond to the movement in the Diagnostic tab.

You will still need to do setup in the Wizard, but with a preset, tuning will be easier.
For your servos I recommend to set (later after initial setup) parameter Piro Consistency to around 180 and Rudder Delay to 0.

:o Thank you so much for this information! :D

Do I need a special X-Bus cable? Which port on the Spirit do I plug in the X-Bus cable from the JR receiver?

As said, you should set SRXL in Spirit and use the RUD port as explained in the Spirit manual

Hi Guys,

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I am considering buying a JR XG14 c/w RG812BX DMSS receiver.
I have read that people have had problems with Bank Switching and also with Rescue Mode.

Is JR DMSS equipment completely compatible with Spirit System?

Many thanks for any replies,

James

Hi,

it is fully compatible and as far as we know many pilots are flying with this radio too.
We have never heard about a problem with Bank Switching or Rescue mode related to JR. If it does not work, your radio has to be just configured properly. Even with the cheapest 6 channel radios you can make it work well.

On the other hand you will not get any integration or telemetry with Spirit as with some other brands. But for anything else it is more than enough.
