No need to save or reboot. It will apply immediately. It is only important that throttle is at 0% (or less).
Also make sure that you do not have Throttle Reverse checked.
Also make sure that you have not selected in the ESC Telemetry window Castle Creations by mistake.
Are you able to initialize the ESC in the receiver?

You can take a photo of the connection, maybe it is somewhere there.

I am sorry, I have checked the manual from this ESC and it seems that the RED wire (from Throttle cable) is actually required for powering part of the electronics inside the ESC.
So this is very likely the problem.
This ESC can't process the signal without this as it rely on the BEC/battery voltage.

No worries. Since i already wired up everything cleanly using mesh wire covers and its not easy to get to the esc it will take me some time to fix that.
Thank you for the great support.

Readding the red wire to the ESC throttle signal cable solved the issue. Many thanks @ZeXx86! Motor spools up nicely.
One question tough:
RPM Tester properly shows the RPM in the popup (Spirit software on OSX). But when i test the Spirit's governor it only shows the requested rpm, not the current. I have to open the RPM tester dialog to see the RPM. Do i need to connect the RPM out of the ESC to the Spirit for governor use? If i understood your answer correctly the telemetry should be sufficient?

Yes, if using Governor you will need to connect RPM lead.

After hitting throttle hold i see the rpm...
Hello,
the RPM sensor wire should be plugged in the PIT pin (middle).
When throttle hold is not active, it should start to show the RPM as soon as motor is spinning.

The rpm signal is working, but i have too much noise (i did not connect the hw fan on the esc). May I ask you for a suggestion what to change in order to get the noise down based on your experience? There are many options to try out and see if it helps but maybe you know the solution with the best chances to work properly.
I see the following problems:
- rpm signal runs together with throttle (signal,+,-) cable
- rpm cable runs relatively close to the battery; could this be an issue?
do you think just spliting the paths of the throttle and rpm cable could solve the issue?
i didn't use any of the ferrit rings that came with the hobbywing ubec. is it possible that the bec cables infer with the rpm cable? they are far away and only come near on the sockets of the spirit unit. so i thought this isn't an issue...
could i run into troubles running the telemtry cable next to the bec cables? should i isolate them more?
