Ian, the topic with tail motor start/stop is as I wrote to you.
PLease take care to set "0" subtrim to CH4 prior to the adjustments.
Start then with Rudder limits RIGHT first, and take care LEFT value is higher than right value!
The topic is to find the value where the motor either stops or is starting up - independent what you think is right !
Then the tail motor will work correctly.

Thanks but don't worry about the tail for now, I can't actually fly the model to even diagnose anything else.

Can you pls tell me about the motor temperatur after this crazy 5 seconds.
As you confirmed mechanical is everything OK and double checked.....
Pls tell us once more the ESC + settings for both motors.
And pls also the parameters of this flight - did you had the chance to save the logfile ?
6deg look a bit high (150)
Which deg do you have at max Pitch (190) ?

from the video I can say there is something extremely wrong.
It look like Geometry 6° value is very, very high or the servos are picking up some noise.
You can also try to set Elevator Filter to 0.
But something like this should normally not happen in any case. So it will be rather something very unusual or something very wrong in the settings.
For this model Geometry 6° value will be rather around 70-100. So if you are getting near 150 it is almost certainly incorrect. Then there is question why you are getting such high value? Which would point out to another possible issue - servo centering.

Motors are cool, even when I run them on the bench for extended periods (minus the blades) they stay cool.
Mechanically yes, all is ok. The model was flying perfectly on the OMP FBL as I simply pulled it off to replace it with this setup.
Model has also not been crashed, or dropped, so is all in-line and in balance.
Tail ESC is flashed with BLheli TAIL firmware and appears to work well.
Main is a BLheli_32 so running MULTI and for the time being I have added some throttle delay in spoolup to bring the pwoer in gradually, but only 8 seconds to take the sharp edge off the motor starting.
Log file, not downloaded it so will try now.
I will double check the 6 degree's, but with the digital pitch guage zero'd off the back of the frames.
Overall collective pitch range is +- 12.9 degree's.

Yes very much so, from what I have seen apart from the fine tuning, the base settings should just work and the model be pretty stable.
I will double check the 6 degree setting, but having done it a few times now the value has always been the same. However it's worth checking.
With the servo centering I am very critical of this, making sure my bench setups are perfect before committing to fly, know that getting this step will make for a better flying model.
As to the servo's OMP say they are 400hz, not sure what the overall effect would be with feeding them a lower signal rate. Usually nothing, but these are bespoke to this model.
I will run through the link now and try some changes.
One idea I did have is electrical nosie from the ESC's situated below the uSpirit, could this be possible?
Or the Jumper R1F RX sending Sbus to the unit, could try a DX8 and DSMX sat.

can you take a picture how you measure the 6deg ?
As per Manual...."It is necessary to set the value so that the blades angle is at 6° in the aileron axis. You need to rotate your rotor head with blades to be parallel to the longitudinal axis of the mode

Please spoolup tge motor without blades to see if there is any strange behavior.
If no then it is just Geometry 6°.
If no then it is just Geometry 6°.
