Good,
In this case please increase Pirouette Consistency to 185.

Did you already decreased Geometry 6° as I have recommended?

No, not yet. I have only tried to adjust the rudder.
I will put for the next flight Pirouette Consistency to 185 and make Geometry of 6 ° to 5.25 °.
Is that OK?
The other settings in my Spirit are all right?

Yes, please set there value to 4,5° (6° * 0.75). Otherwise there will be very likely issues on the swashplate and possibly oscillations.

Hi,

Thanks for offering additional help :-)
It took some time before I had a chance to fly my new TDF.

I’m using a Spirit Pro with firmware 2.4.3 with Hobbywing 130V4 HV and telemetry and Spirit governor.

This time I had no issues with tail performance :-). But I have a problem with elevator direction.
During setup, I reduced 6° Tuning to 75% (value*0,75) and increased Elevator Filter to four. The starting point was the TDR setup.
I tested Cycliy gain at 55% and 60% and Elevator Filter at 4 and 2 and didn’t see a difference.

My Problem (I hope I can explain it correctly...) :-)
If I give a short push on Elevator (nose up or down doesn’t matter) the heli moves in that direction but didn’t stop immediately as soon as I release the stick to center position. It still moves a bit in the last direction, slowly but visible before the heli stops moving. It doesn’t feel that the heli would lock into the position.

I didn’t see that in Aileron directions.

Any idea what to check or try/change to identify and solve the issue?

Thanks
Guido

Hi,

I understand the problem.
To solve it you can decrease Cyclic Feed Forward little bit (not less than 3). This will make it more precise as the input will be not that agressive.
Changing the Flight Style can eventually have effect on this too in a natural way, but there it is rather good to set it according your preferences.
Personally I like it to set high for the bigger helicopters. But you will see what you will like. There you can safely try any value.

Hi,

I will test it as soon as the weather is good enough and let you how it works.

Thanks
Guido

Very interested in your findings as I was out today and noticed the same thing with my TDF - that it carried on pitching fwd/back after stick input. It didn't stop movement when you stopped your stick input. Almost like a very very high elevator filter.

I have yet to try the 4.5 deg Geometry. I will try that without changing anything else first.
Currently I'm at 55 cyclic, 67 tail. 6s running 1250 rpm (716's)

Hi Scornflake,

did you have a chance to try some new settings and get rid of this strange behaviour?
Unfortunately, I had no chance so far.
It would be great if we could share our findings here to improve the Spirit settings for our TDFs.

Thanks
Guido
