Hi, The solution is to cut more the fan cover as I did. In this case, the sensor is right over the magnet.
The hole is made for GAUI gov sensor.
See in this build thread:
http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=715664
I made test with Futaba governor, whether the magnet is properly detected and it was. RPM were measured by Spirit correctly as well (seems to be as I mentioned before)
I have placed one magnet from positive and one from negative side. The reason is that the magnets are fixed in fan by epoxy glue and it is very hard to extract them without destruction of the fan. And I switched from Align governor, which must have one positive and one negative magnet (lets say one magnet for reading the RPM and second for balance). The same situation with Futaba gov.

Hi,
thank you for the info.
We are using also Align sensor and it is working pretty well with same polarity.
Actually, if there is a negative polarity, it may not work properly with Spirit governor in a higher RPM range. (for example under 1600 RPM reading is OK and above RPM can be very unstable).
Same polarity will solve the issue.

Frankly speaking, I do not understand the situation, that Spirit is not able to read high RPM, when would be there only one positive magnet. Because if I place there 2 magnets, the readings will be doubled. Is not, maybe, there a problem with internal calculation?
When I checked the Spirit with one positive magnet, I saw correct reading (I was connected with BT module and the numbers were the same with readings via Spektrum telemetry - cca 16.000RPM).
There was no error in log (regarding sensor noise), and there was written, that the governor was turned on. Should not be there a record about unstable readings?
Maybe, it would be good to test it with one positive magnet - it is common settings for ALL nitro governors.
I have a next question - how is guaranteed, that the Spirit gov will not turn off the engine during fly? Because there is no settings for throttle position when the engine idle (I do not know how other integrated governor deal with it).
Little off topic for NX4 and its carburetor, but idle speed is critically connected with throttle position for Walbro carburetor
{Walbro carburetor (from my practice 990 with Zenoah):
- idle throttle is e.g. 18%
- hover throttle is e.g. 26%-28%
Glow carb:
- idle throttle is e.g. 18%
- hover throttle is e.g. 43%
}

One magnet is not a problem at all. Problem can be a negative polarity magnet.
If your reading is OK, then the problem is not very likely there. It was just guess.
We will test it very soon with the new heli so I will let you know what is the best settings.
To answer your question - this is not possible with Spirit governor, because it knows what is the minimal position of the throttle. It is calculated automatically during the spoolup and if the algorithm is not absolutely sure due to some issue, then it will not enable governor and will try to calculate it more precisely until its done. Usually you can't notice anything.

Which sensor are you using?

Hi,
Do you have any update?

Yes, we have received faulty parts with the kit and waiting all the time for replacement, that was out of stock.
Fortunately today, after few weeks, required part was shipped to us.

Yes, Gaui is finally flying and governor is working very well.
We have also made an improvements (to protect from overspeeding) to the whole governor so it is working even better now.

Great, can you share the details please?
Setup? New firmware?
