Hi Folks,

I bought a 2nd hand Lynx OXY3 (3S setup). This is my 1st FBL system.
To be sure to understand how my new heli does work, I started the whole configuration from scratch.
I discovered that the previous owner did buy the cable for the FrSky telemetry and for the Hobbywing ESC, I decided to use the Spirit governor mode. I setup the Hobbywing in airplane mode, plug the telemetry port to the Spirit system, etc...
Off course I follow the information from this URL Wiki Main Page (BTW, very well done and full of very useful information).
After everything was setup, I've done the first maiden flight. Everything is working as expected (including the safe/panic mode).

I got only one issue:
On my Taranis X9D+, I do see the RPM coming from the ESC (through the Spirit unit telemetry port) and also the vibration (in %).
However, something is wrong about other parameters.
According this page << HobbyWing Telemetry >>, I know that the Platinum 60A V4 will not report the current.
However, I'm expecting to get the LiPo pack voltage and the ESC temperature.
Looks like, it isn't working.
The temp is always reporting exactly 25°C without any variations...
The battery voltage is always around 11.4V...

Unfortunately for me, I relied on the LiPo voltage to trigger my landing alarm... :( Since the voltage is always 11.4, the alarm didn't trigger and the ESC shutdown protection was a bit too fast...
Fortunately, the landing wasn't too hard. Nothing was broken.

So, any suggestions why the Temp/Batt voltage telemetry data aren't working?

Seb

PS: I attached the telemetry plots.

Hello,

welcome in our forum!

I think that the problem is caused because the ESC has old firmware that does not support telemetry yet.
It is necessary to update it with HobbyWing software to the latest version. Then I guess it will work immediately.

Values you are seeing are default - you will see the same even if Telem UNI is not connected.

Thanks for you welcome message. :)

I never though than the ESC firmware could be update. I will search on Internet.
I will come back to you to keep you inform.

BTW, the "panic" mode is excellent. I'm new in the heli world, this mode helps a lot to get some confidence. :)
I also bought a 2nd hand TRex500 ESP (flybar version). Since the Spirit system does support flybar heli, I'm planing to buy a Spirit Pro in order to replace the Align Gyro. Looks like Spirit System is an excellent brand.

Thank you for kind message!

Yes, it can be updated too. But you will need a cable for this. But also you can easily configure it in your computer.

I already own the WiFi express module. I used it to configure the ESC in airplane mode as recommended in your Wiki.
I hope I can use it to update the ESC... :?
I read somewhere than you could do all same things with the WiFi module as you got the programmer module.

Unfortunately our Wifi-Link is not compatible with HobbyWing ESCs. You will need device from HobbyWing. But again their device is compatible only with HobbyWing ESCs.

In fact, I'm talking about this module → << WiFi Express >>
Not about the WiFi-Link from Spirit System which I also own. :)

I used only once the WiFi Express to program the airplane mode, as recommended here → << HobbyWing Platinum ESC v3/v4 RPM output >>

I'm now realizing that there is a big & nice "Firmware Update" button.
I will try tonight. I hope this will solve my issue. :)
I'm confident because the RPM data is already send and correctly used by the Spirit governor mode.

OK, some news.
The firmware version was PL-04.0.05.
The upgrade to the version PL-04.0.06 went well.
But, still no telemetry...
I started the real-time telemetry from the HW interface. All values were correct.
Then I realized something by checking the wiring: I got confuse between the RPM wire (fast and real-time) and the telemetry wire (slow serial connection)...
In others words, I simply didn't plug the Telem UNI cable.

Now, it is working much, much better. :)

I got one last question. Could check my ESC configuration?
Does-it look OK to you?
I setup the throttle frequency in the Spirit @120Hz. Is it OK with the HW Platinium?

Thanks.
So, to summarize:
- ESC setup → OK
- 120Hz for the governor mode in the Spirit → OK

I will finally be able to setup an alarm on the LiPo voltage. :)

Thanks a lot for your support.
